Municipal Court

If you have been issued an infraction, parking, or photo enforced school zone ticket, you must respond by the due date listed on the citation.

After the due date, a penalty for failure to respond will be added to the balance of the fine. Unpaid balances on traffic citations will be sent to a collection agency and may result in the suspension of your driver's license. Unpaid balances on parking citations will be sent to collections and may prevent you from renewing your vehicle license tabs.

1. Pay the ticket

» Within the due date on the citation: You may pay original fine amount to the Court directly or through nCourt online at kirklandpay.com or by calling 1-844-546-9366 during business hours.

» After the due date on the citation: A late fee will be added to the original fine. You may pay the Court directly or through nCourt until your account gets assigned to collections, at which point you must contact Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson at 1-844-576-4766 to make a payment or set up a payment agreement.

2. Request a Hearing

» You must request a hearing by the deadline listed on the citation if you believe your ticket was issued in error or you want the fine to be lowered. Only the Judge has the authority to listen to your explanation and either dismiss or lower a ticket once it has been filed with the Court.

» If you lost your ticket, you may call or visit the Court during operating hours for assistance. For parking tickets, please have your license plate number ready.

» If it is past the deadline listed on the citation, you must pay the fine in full or file a show cause motion to explain why the response window should be extended.

» If you received a delinquent letter from the Court, the court did not receive your response timely. You must pay the fine in full or file a show cause motion to explain why the response window should be extended.

If you received a disabled parking citation but have a valid disabled parking placard

» You may file a Disabled Parking Affidavit and a copy of your placard or request a court hearing by the due date listed on your citation. You may also present your placard in person during operating hours. 

If you received a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance

» But you were insured at the time of the traffic stop, within the due date of the citation, you may present proof of valid insurance being in effect at the time of the citation issued and the offense shall be dismissed upon payment of the $25 administrative fee.

» But you now have insurance, within the due date of the citation, you may present proof that you have obtained valid insurance for the vehicle you were operating on the day you were cited and the fine for the offense shall be reduced to $250.

If you received a citation for driving without having a valid driver's license pursuant to RCW 46.20.015

» You may present proof of a valid license within the due date of the citation and the fine for the offense shall be reduced to $50.

A defendant, who has been charged with a criminal violation and has an outstanding warrant in Kirkland Municipal Court, may address the warrant in the following manner: 

1. Report to Kirkland Jail for booking. They will be scheduled to the next business day Court calendar.

2. Post full bail amount or bond with Kirkland Jail or Clerk of Court. Anyone may pay the full warrant amount in cash/credit/debit/cashier check (no personal checks) at Kirkland Municipal Court (during business hours) or Kirkland Jail (24/7). 

3. Contact their attorney to file a motion to quash the warrant. If the defendant is not represented by counsel, they may file a written request to recall the warrant with explanation for the failure to appear. 

4. Schedule a Bench Warrant Walk-in hearing. The defendant or counsel of record may contact the Clerk of the Court via phone or in-person and request to be scheduled. The warrant will remain active until the hearing when the court determines to either serve or recall the warrant. All Bench Warrant Quash Hearings must be IN PERSON if set to Bench Warrant calendar. Defendants with no bail warrants and defendants who have previously been scheduled for BWQ hearings, are not eligible.
