In Person and Virtual Hearing Instructions
Kirkland Municipal Court hearings are held in person and virtually. Unless previously specified by the Judge or noted on the summons, your appearance is determined by the hearing type.
Zoom hearings are authorized for:
- Infractions (Contested / Mitigation)
- Pretrials (except dispositions)
- Community Court
- Jail calendars
All other hearings are IN PERSON for attorneys and defendants:
- Arraignments
- Pretrials with expected resolutions
- SOC entries, reviews, or endings
- Motions and Readiness
- Jury Trials
- Sentencings
- Review and Non-Probation Reviews
- Warrant quashes
To Join a Virtual Hearing:
Refer to your hearing notice for date, time, and Courtroom number. Join at least 10 minutes before your scheduled hearing.

Virtual Court Protocol
- If you are represented by an attorney, talk to your them before the hearing date to discuss your case.
- You must have working internet connection, speaker, and microphone. Video capability is preferred.
- Join the video session at least 10 minutes before the scheduled hearing time.
- Your user name should be the first and last name noted on your hearing notice.
- Do not join the video hearing while multi-tasking, in bed, driving, walking, eating, or in a moving vehicle.
- Ensure your surroundings are appropriate, private, and quiet.
- Be respectful. Ensure you are properly dressed for court and sitting upright if you are able.
- Remain muted until your case is called. When asked to identify yourself, speak loudly and clearly.
- You may leave the ZOOM virtual hearing after your case has been resolved.
Recording is Prohibited
The public can watch the court proceeding but cannot record it using any audio or video devices. Anyone who records the proceedings, other than the official court reporter, may be held in contempt of court. The official record will be the court's own audio recording in the courtroom, which is required.
