If you receive a a copy of a criminal citation from a Kirkland, Medina or Clyde Hill police officer or in the mail, your appearance in court is mandatory. You have been charged with a crime. Failure to appear will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest.
Look for an appearance (arraignment) date in the lower left-hand portion of your gold citation or near the bottom center position of your white electronic citation. If no date is written on the citation, the court will summons you in 2-3 weeks. The summons will be mailed to the address on the face of the citation. It is your responsibility to contact the court if the address is incorrect or the summons is not received within 2-3 weeks.

Traffic Infractions (Non-Criminal)
If you receive a copy of a non-criminal traffic citation then you have been charged with a traffic infraction. Please read the front and back (if applicable) of the citation for instructions. You must respond within 15 days of the date of the citation by either requesting a hearing or by paying the fine in full. After 15 days, a penalty for failure to respond will be added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency and will result in the suspension of your driver’s license. If you have lost your original ticket or wish to retain your citation, you may complete this Infraction Hearing Request form (PDF - 156kb) and file it with the Court within the allotted time requirements.
You must respond to a parking ticket within 15 days of the date of issue by either requesting a hearing or by paying the fine in full. After 15 days, a penalty for failure to respond will be added. Unpaid balances will be sent to a collection agency. You will be unable to renew your vehicle license tabs until all fines are paid.
You must go to tow company and obtain the impounded vehicle hearing request form. The request for hearing must be received by the court within 10 days of the date that the vehicle was redeemed or attempted to be redeemed. Before a hearing can be set, a mandatory $73 filing fee must accompany the request. A summons notice will then be mailed to all parties. Due to multiple parties being subpoenaed, Impound Hearings cannot be changed once they are set.
