Do you want to make a difference and serve your community? Are you looking for ways to make an impact in the city you love? Then you should apply to a City advisory board or commission by April 29, 2026.
City advisory boards and commissions are responsible for formulating new ideas, gathering information, receiving public comments, analyzing complex issues, and making recommendations for specific projects and policies to the City Council.
“The City’s many advisory boards benefit all Kirklanders, so we want diverse perspectives that reflect our ever-changing community,” said Mayor Kelli Curtis. “By serving on a board or commission, community members of any background provide valuable input to City Council and help shape the future of our city. It’s a rewarding experience, whether you’re passionate about parks, tourism, or transportation.”
Most boards and commissions hold monthly evening meetings. To decrease potential barriers to participation, the City provides childcare stipends for board and commission members. For more information, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at (425) 587-3190.
Kirkland community members who meet eligibility requirements are invited to apply to the City Clerk by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Eligibility requirements differ for each board or commission. Visit the Current Recruitment Positions page or call the City Clerk’s Office to learn more and apply.
Members of most advisory boards and commissions are appointed by the City Council. City Council interviews for potential members are tentatively scheduled for the end of May or the first week of June.
Vacancies are available on the following boards and commissions:
