Kingsgate Neighborhood Plan Update

Planning For Kingsgate

Beginning in 2023 and continuing into 2024, Planning and Building Department staff in coordination with the residential and businesses communities in the Kingsgate Neighborhood will conduct an update of the Kingsgate Neighborhood Plan chapter in the Kirkland Comprehensive Plan. The update will include an extensive community engagement process including formation of a Kingsgate Working Group, study sessions with the Planning Commission, as well as community-based outreach events. Final adoption of the updated Plan is anticipated at the end of 2024 in conjunction with other citywide amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.

This page summarizes the scope of work, process, public outreach plan and schedule that will be used for the neighborhood plan update process. See the Kingsgate Neighborhood Plan Update Framework(PDF, 813KB) document. A simultaneous process will occur between 2023 and 2024 to update the Juanita Neighborhood Plan. 

April 2024 Updates and Announcements:

• Save The Date! The Neighborhood Plan Update public hearing will be held on May 23, 2024 at 6 PM at Kirkland City Hall. Please join us before the meeting to learn more about the Plan updates through the 2044 Comprehensive Plan Open House, scheduled from 4 - 5:30 PM.
  
  
• Draft Policies for the Kingsgate Neighborhood Plan have been reviewed with the Juanita Working Group and the Planning Commission. Staff will be working to implement feedback from both groups into an updated set of revisions, to be reviewed at the May 23, 2024 public hearing.

• Draft Vision Statement for the Kingsgate Neighborhood Plan has been drafted to incorporate the comments received from the public engagement process, which began in 2023. The draft Statement has been reviewed by the Planning Commission and City Council and this version reflects changes suggested by both groups.
