KIRKLAND, Wash. – Effective immediately, the Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) has issued a ‘Stage 2’ Fire Safety Burn Ban, which means all outdoor fires, including recreational campfires, pellet fire pits, cooking fires, and ceremonial fires are prohibited until further notice.

In response to continued hot/dry weather, high fire danger throughout King County, and the ongoing commitment of many local wildland firefighting resources outside the region, KFD, the King County Fire Chiefs Association, King County Fire Marshals, and other jurisdictions throughout King County have joined together to issue a Stage 2 Fire Safety Burn Ban covering all parts of King County.

The ban does not include propane or natural-gas fired grills, fireplaces, fire tables, enclosed pellet cooking smokers, other gas-fired appliances, or charcoal grills. Please use caution when disposing of charcoal remains.

KFD is working in cooperation with the King County Fire Chiefs Association, King County Fire Marshals and King County to continually monitor wildfire fuel and weather conditions. The Stage 2 Fire Safety Burn Ban will remain in effect in King County until further notice.
