The Kirkland Parks and Community Services is hosting a “See Spot Splash” event on Saturday, September 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate the end of the season at the pool.

“See Spot Splash is the one day of the year when dogs are welcome to dive into Peter Kirk Pool,” says Councilmember Toby Nixon. “It’ll be pups only in the pool – no people.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and create a play-filled experience for your canine companions.”

There are five sessions:

  • 10 a.m. - small dogs only
  • 11 a.m.
  • 12 p.m.
  • 1 p.m.
  • 2 p.m.

With the exception of the 10 a.m. session for small dogs only, dogs of all sizes are welcome. Dogs will get to enjoy the main, large pool and a wading pool.  The amount of chlorine in the pool will be decreased leading up to the event.  However, there will be some chlorine still in the pool while the dogs swim.  A multi-use rinse station will be provided just west of the pool entrance for rinsing off dogs before and after the event.

Community members are encouraged to register their dogs in advance for a splashy good time with other furry friends, as space is limited.  Drop-in admittance will also be allowed, as space accommodates.  Cost is $10 per dog per session. Recreation program scholarship recipients are encouraged to pre-register for the event.  Scholarship processing will not be provided at the event for new applicants. More information on the City’s Recreation Scholarship program can be found on the City’s website.

Dog owners must have proof of rabies vaccination at check-in.

To register as a participant or a vendor, visit kirklandparks.net or call 425-587-3330.

Food for humans will be available from Cascadia Pizza, and vendor booths will include dog rescue groups and other dog establishments.

In addition to opening Peter Kirk Pool for canine fun, the City will open up Lee Johnson Ballfield as a one-day pop-up off-leash area. Your dog does not need to be registered for “See Spot Splash” to participate at the pop-up off-leash park.

Peter Kirk Pool and Park is located at 352 Kirkland Avenue. Parking is limited. See the City website for Parking Information or download the Downtown Kirkland Guide to Public Parking pamphlet.
