New School Zone Speed Limit Signs Are Coming to Kirkland

Starting in May, the City of Kirkland will begin updating its 20 MPH school speed limit signs. Two new types of signs will be introduced in school zones across Kirkland to make it clearer to drivers when they must slow down while driving in these areas.

Kirkland International Night Market Wins Innovation Award

The City of Kirkland’s International Night Market has received a 2026 Program Spotlight Award for Innovative Programming (Population Under 100K) from the Washington Recreation and Park Association. The award recognizes outstanding creativity and community impact in parks and recreation and was presented on April 23, 2026, at the WRPA Annual Awards Banquet in Tacoma, Washington.

Kirkland’s Priorities Regarding Sound Transit’s Line 4 Project

Sound Transit has recently shared that it expects to need to cut back and/or delay some of the voter-approved ST3 projects to balance the budget. The South Kirkland-Issaquah Link line is one project that might be changed by cost-saving efforts. The City’s position is that the 4 Line should maintain direct connections from South Kirkland through Downtown Bellevue onto Issaquah.
