(August 2026) -- The roundabout configuration will be changed at 114th Avenue NE/Kirkland Way, opening to drivers in the new configuration Monday, August 10. In the new temporary configuration for the next phase of construction lanes will be narrower, so it will be particularly important for cars to give semi-trucks, buses and other large vehicles extra space. Semi-trucks will not be permitted to make left turns, so will follow a specific truck detour to complete their routes.
(July 2026) -- The biggest change has occurred and we now have a complex roundabout interchange in the heart of the City. The City's projects on each side of the interchange are complete: preparing to receive an additional lane from the freeway, and offering a direct route for all modes to the downtown core from the in-line bus stop. The roundabout at the Kirkland Way/114th Avenue Northeast interchange will continue to be modified into a two lane, all-direction roundabout.
(April 2026) -- Big changes to NE 85th Street this spring/summer will change the driving surface to it's future configuration on the lower level, open the new on/off ramps for I-405, utilize the roundabouts, create the roundabout at 114th Ave NE/Kirkland Way intersection and complete fish passage work with directional closures on two weekends of I-405. Like I said, BIG!
Quarterly updates on the project as a whole.
