1. NE 140th Street Watermain Repair & Replacement (Northshore Utility District)
April 2026 – May 2026
Northshore Utility District will replace aging watermain infrastructure along NE 140th Street. Work includes underground utility replacement, followed by final pavement restoration between mid‑April and mid‑May. This project strengthens water reliability and reduces the risk of future service disruptions.
2. NE 140th Street Pedestrian Improvements (Transportation Benefit District – Safer Routes to School)
November 2026 – May 2027
As part of the Safer Routes to School Plan, the City will build new walkway and sidewalk connections on the west side of 124th Avenue NE, improving visibility, comfort, and safety for students, families, and neighbors walking to nearby schools, parks, and transit.
Improvements include:
- New sidewalk segments
- Upgraded curb ramps
- Drainage and lighting enhancements where needed
- Some trees and shrubs will be removed as necessary
3. 2027 Street Overlay – NE 140th Street
June 2027 – September 2027
In summer 2027, the City will repave NE 140th Street from 124th Avenue NE to 132nd Avenue NE. The eastern limits may shift slightly depending on development schedules at Kamiakin Middle School.
Street overlays extend pavement life, reduce long‑term maintenance costs, and provide a smoother, safer driving and biking experience.
What to Expect
From now through fall 2027, you’ll see intermittent construction, with breaks between project phases. We coordinate closely with Northshore Utility District, development partners, and schools to minimize redundancy—so crews only return when needed for the next scheduled project.
Typical construction impacts may include:
- Noise during working hours
- Temporary lane shifts or flagger-controlled traffic
- Short-term driveway access interruptions
- Daytime parking restrictions in work zones
