Powered by 2020's Proposition 1, the City of Kirkland is renovating its existing 5,910 square-foot Fire Station 21.

The renovation will improve firefighters’ efficiency, workplace health and safety, while incorporating earthquake resiliency, extending building life, and improving energy efficiency.

The project will provide seismic upgrades; replace the aging HVAC systems; and provide upgrades to the station’s electrical, plumbing, alerting, and secure access systems.

It includes a 490-square foot mezzanine addition and limited reconfiguration of crew support spaces to provide a decontamination room, appropriate bunker gear storage, quieter sleep rooms, and a more efficient restroom layout.  The completed station will consist of three apparatus bays, support spaces, crew working spaces, crew living spaces, and five sleeping rooms.  Associated site work will include site structures, storm water systems, utilities, landscaping, and paving.
