New Website Notice

The City of Kirkland website, www.kirklandwa.gov, launched as a new and improved website as of December 18, 2020.  There will also be changes to permitting forms relating to development applications. The City of Kirkland will be moving away from fillable Adobe PDF forms and instead will provide newly formatted online forms.

Newly Formatted Online Permit Application Forms!

As of December 18th after 6 PM, you may be required to complete one or more of the newly formatted online forms during application of building permits.  Examples of the forms include:

  • Environmental Review (SEPA) checklist
  • Administrative Design Review supplemental checklist
  • Design Review Board modifications
  • Wireless permit application questionnaire
  • Rodent Abatement Declaration
  • Owner Exemption Affidavit
  • Single Family Plumbing Worksheet
  • Electrical Checklist for Single Family Solar PV Systems
  • Revisions and Additional Information
  • Alternate Materials, Methods, or Modifications Request Form

After filling out the form, in some cases, you will receive an email with a printable PDF of the online form. The form then can then be uploaded to MyBuildingPermit.com (MBP) to start your application process.

If you stop in the middle of completing the form, you will be able to save the form and receive an email with a link to return to the form you are working on.  If changes are required after the form is completed, you will need to start over. A new form will need to be completed for each permit application.

Please note that emails regarding these forms will come from “OpenForms” so please be sure to check your junk mail settings.

5 Important Tips

A Learning Curve

Information on our new website will be in different places than you may be used to. The new website uses customer-focused design and reflects how the public seeks information and services. There is less emphasis on navigation through departments to find information and services, and more emphasis on using the searching tool.

More Current Information

The new website includes five years of council meeting minutes and agendas, two years of boards and commissions meeting minutes and agendas, and one year of news releases. To locate records from prior years, please check with the department where the record originated.

Search Tool Is Your Friend!

The search tool on the new website will be your primary source for finding information. Note that the search tool will bring up pages instead of PDFs. More tips on searching for PDFs coming soon!

Update Your Bookmarks

URLS will be different, so you will need to update your bookmarks. If you link to specific pages on the City’s website, those links will need to be updated.

Help Us

We will continue to update the content on our website. You may be led to a “404 error” page. You can fill out a form that will be sent to the project team, who can correct it and help you locate it’s new location.

Other Permit Application Forms

The City of Kirkland is streamlining some of the required submittal forms into the MyBuildingPermit.com (MBP) permit application process. This will eliminate the need to upload these forms separately because the information will be collected during the application process in MyBuildingPermit.com (MBP).

  • Supplemental Mechanical Information
  • Supplemental Plumbing Information
  • Re-Roof Permit Checklist
  • Move Permit Checklist
  • Public Tree Removal Application
  • Multiple Tree Removal Application

Links to these new forms on MyBuildingPermit.com (MBP) will be added to the new website as they become available.

Thank you for your attention in this matter. In the meantime, please contact us if you have any questions online at Our Kirkland or  Planning & Building at 425-587-3600.
