The North Rose Hill Woodlands playground is a unique, castle-themed structure built almost entirely of wood. Because of its distinctive design, many in the community know it as “Castle Playground” or even "Castle Park."
This playground was designed with input from North Rose Hill children in 2005 and built in 2006 with the help of more than 1,000 community volunteers! Wooden playgrounds typically last 10 - 20 years, depending on materials, weather conditions, and maintenance. Thanks to the care of City staff and volunteers, this playground has served the community for 20 years. The playground is nearing the end of its usable life. To keep the playground open as long as possible, some elements were fenced off in February 2026 and are no longer available for use. The playground remains open, but visitors must stay out of all fenced areas for safety.

The City is planning for a replacement playground. Share your feedback via the North Rose Hill Woodlands Playground Survey. This survey will be open through July 31, 2026.
Donor Brick or Picket Retrieval
Before replacement begins, the City will provide an opportunity for community members to reclaim donated pickets or bricks. The City cannot guarantee that every original donated item is still in place as some have been replaced over the years due to wear, damage, or playground improvements.
If you would like to reclaim a donated picket or brick, please visit the playground to confirm that donated item(s) are still on-site and fill out this form by October 1, 2026.
