Below is summary information for the human services programs funded by the City in 2023 that support education, job skills and other supports to help individuals reach their full potential.

Organization: Friends of Youth

Program: Homeless Youth Employment Services

Amount Funded (2023): $15,000

Program Overview:  Integrated wraparound service within Friends of Youth shelter and housing programs, working with young people experiencing homelessness to develop skills and resources that promote financial independence. Services are convenient, free, and low-barrier, including group activities through Job Club, individualized support from Employment Case Managers, and connection to employment opportunities including agency-subsidized paid internships.

Program Overview: Hero House serves adults with mental illness using the “Clubhouse model”, an evidence-based practice that builds a working environment for members to engage in meaningful work that builds self-esteem with the goal of returning to work.

Amount Funded (2023): $10,700

Program Overview:  Offers two types of classes that create opportunity for people to identify the unique skills they already have, develop new skills, and make progress toward gaining living wage employment. Participants can take GED/High School + classes, which help students earn their GED or high school diploma or English for Work classes, an opportunity for immigrants and refugees improve their English in preparation for employment.

Program: Employment Program

Amount Funded (2023): $10,700

Program Overview:  Serves job seekers in north and east King County at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level including homeless and very low-income clients who have a multitude of issues that hinder their ability to seek, secure, and maintain living wage employment for themselves and their families. Support services include career assessment, job search, resume and cover letter writing, job applications, interview preparation, job skills workshops, and job retention.

Organization: IKRON of Greater Seattle

Program: Integrated Employment Services

BIPOC Organization: No

Amount Funded (2023): $16,050

Program Overview:  Combines employment readiness activities (career assessments, interview preparation, resume and cover letter writing), job placement and job maintenance activities, with other supports and behavioral health services. Integrating all services under one roof with a wraparound concept to care, facilitates increased quality of care and improved outcomes. The ultimate goal of its services is successful integration in the community through employment.

Organization: Imagine Housing

Program:  Behavioral Health Services

Amount Funded (2023):  $42,100

Program Overview:  Provides on-site and critically-needed behavioral health support to individuals and families living at Imagine Housing properties through partnerships with IKRON, Youth Eastside Services, and Encompass Northwest.

Organization: YWCA of Seattle-King-Snohomish

Program: Eastside Employment Services

BIPOC Organization: No

Amount Funded (2023): $14,614

Program Overview:  Provides culturally-specific programs focusing on economic independence and advancement. While inclusive of all, EES centers on Black/African-American communities and those who are structurally positioned furthest from opportunity to support them with career navigation, soft skills, vocational training, financial capability, and job placement/job retention services.
