One Person Injured in Fire at Local Business

Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) responded to a report of an explosion at Volkswagen of Kirkland at about 6 p.m. this evening, October 10.

An employee was vaping near some 55-gallon drum containers that were empty but had once contained flammable liquid.

The employee suffered injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The employee was conscious when transported.

No structures at the business caught on fire and there was no damage reported at the business.

Several other fire agencies also responded to the scene: Bellevue Fire, Bothell, Duvall, Eastside Fire and Redmond Fire Departments.
