KIRKLAND, Wash. – Knowing best practices in gun safety isn’t just for gun owners. Whether you have a firearm in your home or not, the Kirkland Police Department’s free Gun Safety Class is a great opportunity to learn from experienced law enforcement professionals about safe firearm handling, secure storage practices, and tips for preventing accidents and misuse. “Everyone benefits from a stronger understanding of gun safety, whether or not they own a gun,” said Councilmember Jon Pascal. “This class is a great opportunity for residents to learn practical steps that help keep our community safe.” The class will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kirkland Justice Center, Totem Lake Room (11750 NE 118th Street, Kirkland, WA 98034). The class is open to Kirkland residents aged 21 and older, but space is limited to 20 participants. Registered participants will receive a small, complementary gun safe. Secure your spot by registering via Eventbrite. To ensure a safe learning environment, attendees should not bring personal firearms to the class. Inert training aids will be used during instruction. This class is made possible through Police Prop 1, approved by voters in 2018. For more information about Police Prop 1, please visit the City’s website. The mission of the Kirkland Police Department is to protect and serve our community with honor, integrity, and courage. Learn more about the Kirkland Police Department.
