Kirkland Police recovered two stolen vehicles and arrested nine auto theft suspects who were in the process of stealing a third vehicle in Kirkland.

Kirkland Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Juanita Country Club condo complex located in the 12400 block of 109th Court Northeast during the afternoon of April 21, 2024. A resident of that community called police to report two vehicles entering the complex at a high rate of speed, with several occupants wearing ski masks.

Upon arrival, officers discovered numerous suspects attempting to steal a parked Kia. Police apprehended several suspects at the scene, while multiple suspects fled the area on foot.

Kirkland Police requested mutual aid from Bothell and Bellevue police departments to help manage the search for the at-large suspects. Additional community members called police to provide updated information of suspects fleeing throughout the area and hiding in yards. Police apprehended five additional suspects as a result of the search and obtained video surveillance for the case.

In total, nine juvenile suspects are facing charges of Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and Obstruction. Six of the suspects are now on electric home monitoring. The other three remain in custody due to lengthy criminal history, which includes possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, unlawful possession of a firearm, robbery, hit and run, and obstruction.  Police identified the vehicles used by the suspects as recently stolen: one from Federal Way and the other from Kirkland's Preserve at Forbes Creek complex.

The Kirkland Police would like to thank Bothell and Bellevue Police Departments for their assistance in this case and the community members who called police to report suspicious activity happening in their neighborhood.
