Community Costume Swap Event: a Creative and Fun Way to be Sustainable
Community Costume Swap Event: a Creative and Fun Way to be Sustainable
Published on September 19, 2024
Get ready for a spooktacular time at the annual Community Costume Swap Event! The event will be held on Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kirkland City Hall. Organized by the City’s solid waste team, the Costume Swap aims to promote sustainability, creativity, waste reduction, and community spirit.
"We are excited to host this event again and see our community come together to celebrate Halloween in an eco-friendly and inclusive way," said Councilmember John Tymczyszyn. "The Costume Swap is a wonderful example of how small, creative efforts can make a big impact on our environment and bring people together."
The Costume Swap is for families, friends, and individuals of all ages to exchange gently used costumes to ensure that everyone has access to a fantastic outfit for Halloween without breaking the bank. It is also a perfect opportunity to do our part to reduce, reuse, and upcycle. Help us to keep costumes in our community and out of the landfill by swapping and getting a new-to-you costume!
Event Highlights:
Costume Exchange: From Monday, September 23 to Friday September 27 bring your gently used costumes and accessories to City Hall or the North Kirkland Community Center. Then, on September 28 come to the swap event for something new-to-you. All sizes and styles are welcome, from toddlers to adults.
DIY Costume Station: Get creative at our DIY station, where you can mix and match costume pieces or add unique touches to your new outfit.
Photo Booth: Capture the fun with our themed photo booth. Strike a pose in your new costume and share your pictures with friends and family.
Participation is simple: bring one or more gently used costumes and drop off the week before the event, then attend on September 28 and pick up a fun new-to-costume for the whole family! If you don't have a costume to swap, don't worry! This event is free and open to the public. Costumes are free and you do not need to donate one to take one.
We encourage everyone to participate and help make this Halloween memorable and sustainable together!
