A Kirkland contractor is planning in August to begin improving the safety and reliability of an underground sewage pumping station in North Rose Hill.
Road Construction Northwest will upgrade the Trend Lift Station at 132nd Avenue Northeast's intersection with Northeast 112th Street with new submersible pumps, controls, monitoring devices and safety systems.
The contractor plans to complete the upgrade in February 2027.
The contractor will install most of the system's components in an underground wet-well. However, the six-foot electrical cabinet will sit on the surface so maintenance workers can access it. The system's remote control functions will simplify its maintenance.
To upgrade the Trend Lift Station, Road Construction Northwest will have to remove a large cedar. The contractor will also be closing Northeast 112th Street at its intersection with 132nd Avenue Northeast.
The project will ensure the sewage pumping station can accommodate future growth in the area of North Rose Hill it serves and can adapt to changing conditions.
