TBD Project: 124th Avenue NE Sidewalk & RRFB

WHAT: A Kirkland contractor begins pedestrian safety improvements on the west side of 124th Avenue Northeast near Northeast 145th Street. The project builds more than 300’ of new sidewalk and installs a new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) crossing which connects pedestrians to a southbound King County Metro bus stop. The crossing includes a center island median for increased pedestrian safety.

WHEN: Fury Site Works, Inc. planned work hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Construction is expected to be complete within 60 working days from February 17.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The contractor is required to maintain access for emergency responders, mail delivery, local residents and businesses. Drivers should plan for traffic delays during construction, with typical traffic control shifting southbound traffic into the center lane. Weekly Updates

(April 24) -- This project is waiting on PSE to provide power to the crossing lights.

(April 14) -- For the project to progress the City is waiting on PSE to complete their tasks to provide power to the equipment. The crosswalk is functional and temporary flags have been added for pedestrian visibility.

(April 2) -- Work is progressing well on this sidewalk/crosswalk project.

(March 19) -- Crews will be forming/pouring the center island median curb's into next week.

(March 12) -- Curb and gutter are poured, center island median work expected next week.

(February 26) - Drivers can expect the traffic control to shift the southbound lane into the center lane.

(February 19) -- Work underway on this sidewalk and crosswalk project in north Kirkland.
