(July 14) -- Permanent pavement markings will be applied this week.
(June 26) -- Paving has been completed, small tasks remain to complete this project. Permanent striping is expected in mid-July.
(June 4) -- Work next week will be impactful to drivers and businesses. Beginning Sunday night at 9 p.m. and continuing thru Friday at 5 a.m., the left turn lane for westbound travel to southbound 122nd Avenue Northeast will be closed. A detour will be posted for drivers. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Eastbound travel will be reduced to one through lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the contractor to pour the concrete median curb/gutter and stamped concrete east of 122nd Avenue Northeast. Grinding and overlay of the project area is tentatively scheduled the week of June 22.
(May 14) -- Night work continues and final paving is expected in early June.
(May 7) -- Night work continues on trench patching and will shift to sidewalk repairs. Signal modifications will likely be daytime work in the coming week, with tentative schedule for night grind/overlay at the end of May/early June.
(April 30) -- Night work continues, with water service connections scheduled next week.
(April 24) -- Night work continues. Connections to the water main are expected next week, followed by sidewalk and street repairs.
(April 14) -- Work resumed on this project on Monday, April 13. Night work is expected the next few weeks for the water work and street improvements.
(April 2, 2026) -- Work is expected to resume on Monday, April 13th. Initial working hours will be night shifts, as detailed in original project mailer.
(March 25, 2026) -- Our contractor is expected to resume work on this project in April. Exact date yet to be determined. Initial work on the watermain will primarily be conducted at night, bringing traffic control, noise, vibration, and lighting to 122nd Avenue Northeast.
(January 22, 2026) -- The north sidewalk is open, the asphalt has been repaired and this project is in suspension until spring. No further updates will be provided until we have a scheduled return date.
(January 15, 2026) -- Work is expected to wrap-up by next week as the project enters suspension until spring, when they will return to complete the water work in 122nd Avenue NE, among many other tasks.
(January 8, 2026) -- The contractor is expecting to conduct asphalt work on the north side of NE 85th Street, and some sections on the south side. That work is dependent on asphalt availability.
(December 18, 2025) -- Nearly finished with the sidewalk concrete work, with the corner of 120th Avenue NE (and a small section of 122nd Avenue NE) remaining. Workers will then add temporary fencing before opening the sidewalk and going into project suspension.
(December 4, 2025) -- Concrete work on the north sidewalk remains tied to weather forecasts.
(November 25, 2025) -- Concrete work will continue into early December, as forecasted heavy rain has slowed sidewalk construction.
(November 20, 2025) -- Concrete is being delivered to the side to create the new sidewalk on the north side of NE 85th Street. Work will continue into December before entering suspension for the winter.
(November 6, 2025) -- Work continues on the curb, gutter, sidewalk, and wall cap on the north side of NE 85th Street. Kirkland's project manager expects the project to enter suspension by Thanksgiving when work will pause until spring.
(October 30, 2025) -- Night work is complete for this year, the water work will be completed in 2026 before the final paving. Daytime work will pour the sidewalks and light pole foundations. Work is expected suspend by the end of November into winter.
(October 10, 2025) -- No update this week.
(October 2, 2025) -- Work on the water main is expected to begin on 122nd Avenue Northeast. Permanent patching of the street surface will be conducted before winter, with final paving occurring next spring.
(September 25, 2025) -- Electrical work is occurring during daytime hours taking the northern-most westbound lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Night work on the surface water utility should be finishing next week, then work will move to upgrading the watermain at 122nd Avenue Northeast.
(September 11, 2025) -- Wall work is under way, and progressing well. Some electrical work is expected soon, and night work continues on the utilities.
(September 4, 2025) -- No update as the same work continues.
(August 28, 2025) -- Wall work began this week. Day and night work continue on this project.
(August 21, 2025) -- The wall subcontractor is expected to begin shortly. When they are working, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane from 124th Ave NE to 120th Ave NE.
(August 14, 2025) --Daywork is expected to begin shortly which will reduce westbound travel to one lane through this work zone. Night work continues on the stormwater upgrades.
(August 7, 2025) -- Daywork is expected to begin Monday which will reduce westbound travel to one lane through this work zone. Night work continues on the stormwater upgrades.
(July 31, 2025) -- The contractor continues night work, working on the storm system on the south side of the road. Wall construction/drilling is the next major task to begin as early as the week of August 11, and expected to be conducted during the day. Construction may reduce westbound travel to one lane through this location between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
