(July 17, 2025) -- Night work is underway. The sidewalks were removed, and trees near 120th Ave NE will need to be removed if their roots are impacted by excavation. Pedestrian detour is in place.
(July 3, 2025) -- Night work begins Wednesday evening, July 9. The approved night-time working hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The contractor will mobilize to the site and begin survey and other initial tasks.
(June 20, 2025) -- No update this week.
(June 12, 2025) -- City staff are finalizing the project update to mail to a wide area around this project. Work will begin soon, with the contractor doing the utility work at night and a day crew drilling for the walls on the north side of NE 85th Street. The contractor will be utilizing the (former) Outback Steakhouse property for staging and parking.
(May 29, 2025) -- Project signs are ordered, and the pre-construction meeting is scheduled for next week. Night construction is expected to begin as early as the week of June 9 or 16.
(May 22, 2025) -- Project signs are being designed and ordered, the project mailer to nearby residents and businesses is next. Night construction is expected to begin this June.
(May 15, 2025) -- PSE work expected to be complete next week in advance of Kirkland's Eastbound Third-lane project. PSE's work relocates their utility piping underneath NE 85th Street so that the third-lane project can install updated surface water piping. Night work is expected from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

(Mar. 20, 2025) -- City Council awarded the construction contract for this project at its March 4 meeting. Work is expected to begin this spring. This project was presented at the KAN (Kirkland Alliance of Neighborhoods) meeting on March 12.

(Feb. 27, 2025) -- The project was presented to the Transportation Commission at it's 2/26 meeting, and Kirkland Rotary Club at it's 2/24 meeting. Based on feedback from the commission, we have added links to the project plans and specs to this website.
(Jan. 10, 2025)-- An early notice was sent to nearby residents and businesses about the City's application for the majority of this work to be completed at night. Residents are requested to submit written comments to Project Coordinator Pauley Maneevong by Friday, January 24, 2025.
