The City of Kirkland is expanding and upgrading its maintenance center campus to improve working conditions, maximize the benefits of the City's resources, address past growth from annexation, and prepare for future growth.
The near-term upgrades include:
- Security cameras, key-card access
- Upper Yard equipment storage
- Enhance Shop Building Bays
- Remodel Building Access
- Improve Fleet Wash Bays
- Covered storage for winter storm materials (salt, sand)
- Upgrade Laundry Facilities
- A/V Improvements
To achieve the plan's full benefits, City leaders are negotiating the acquisition of a few neighboring properties (priority sites #1 and #2). Those properties will allow the maintenance center to catch up and to plan for future growth. Specifically, they will allow the City to:
- Improve campus security and protect surrounding environment
- Add storage to protect costly equipment and materials
- Maintain efficiencies from having all of the operational divisions working from a centralized location
