(September 3) -- Work is underway and NE 128th Street is closed from 120th Avenue NE up to the northern DeYoung Pavilion driveway. The concrete intersection is expected to be poured next week and will remain closed into the following week for curing and surface preparation (relief joint saw cutting, temporary pavement markings, etc.)
(August 27) -- NE 128th Street will be closed for three weeks beginning Monday, August 31. Patients and visitors should plan for extra time to reach their destinations at Evergreen Hospital.
(August 13) -- Work is expected to begin August 31 on NE 128th Street at 120th Avenue NE.
(August 6) -- Work is expected to begin in August, with the first phase expected to close the eastern half of the intersection at NE 128th Street/120th Avenue NE and part of NE 128th Street going east. Detours will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians. Construction message boards and signs will alert the area of impending construction, and a project update mailer will be sent to a large portion of the region.
(July 9) -- The pavement surrounding Evergreen Hospital is experiencing some of the most significant wear in the City. This project will overlay or conduct a full-depth reconstruction of several key roadways around the hospital. It also replaces the intersection and roadway at the transit center with concrete.
A Project Update mailer will be sent to you with project timelines at the start of construction. One-way travel with detours, night construction, pedestrian detours, and intersection disruptions are all expected. This is a substantial road project for 120th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 128th Street, and typical maintenance on the remaining streets.
(July 1, 2026) -- Council is expected to award the construction contract at its July 7 meeting. Work likely to begin late-July.
(June 4, 2026) -- Project is out to bid, and once we have a contractor we can finalize a schedule. Work is likely to begin mid-to-late July.
