(September 11, 2025) -- This project is suspended pending delivery of signal poles and signal cabinet delivery, expected in early 2026. The crosswalk will remain closed until fully signalized. Please use the crossing at NE 124th Street. This will be the final project update until 2026, or when we have a installation schedule.
(September 4, 2025) -- Most pavement markings were applied, and a few tasks remain before the contract is suspended until early 2026.
(August 28, 2025) -- Our contractor is scheduling the permanent pavement markings to be applied overnight on Sept. 2-4.
(August 21, 2025) -- Our contractor is awaiting long-lead items (signal cabinet and signal poles). Those are expected to be installed in January which will make the crossing and right-turn signal functional. As is, please drive with caution through the area. Final striping will also occur in the next month.
(August 14, 2025) -- Paving occurred Wednesday, August 13. Our contractor will repair the temporary striping and then will be waiting on the long-lead item delivery for the signal poles and cabinet. The signalized intersection is expected to function early in 2026.
(August 7, 2025) -- The rain on Thursday, August 7 has delayed the paving originally scheduled for today. We are working with our contractor to reschedule the paving as quickly as possible.
(July 31, 2025) -- Concrete work is nearly finished, with remaining areas receiving concrete in the next week. Paving is expected as well, which will cause traffic delays to NE 124th Street/Slater Avenue NE/132nd Avenue NE and areas surrounding. Paving work is currently planned for Wednesday/Thursday (August 6 & 7). We are nearing the end of this first phase of construction, and then will be waiting on the long-lead item delivery for the signal poles and cabinet. The signalized intersection is expected to function early in 2026.
(July 24, 2025) -- Center island median is being constructed, and concrete pour's are scheduled all around the construction zone in the next few weeks. Paving is expected in a few weeks which will install the northbound/southbound separation curb from the intersection to the island. The long-lead items ordered months ago are not expected to be delivered until the end of the year, at the soonest.
(July 17, 2025) -- Construction is expected to begin building the east half of the center island medians next week. Work is expected to take four days, as early as Tuesday-Friday (July 22-26) from 7am to 3pm. The CKC trail is closed from 128th Lane NE to 132nd Avenue NE from Monday to Friday, and open for the weekend. Users are asked to follow the posted detour and not to enter the construction zone.
(July 3, 2025) -- The contractor expects to open the CKC Trail between Slater Avenue and 128th Place NE on July 3. Please follow on-site detour signage. This project is expected to be complete by end of year, but material delays and differing site conditions are possible in construction. The CKC trail will likely be closed again to complete the concrete work on the west side of the crossing. The island median and c-curb will follow.
(June 26, 2025) -- The Cross Kirkland Corridor is closed east of 128th Lane Northeast to Slater/132nd Avenues Northeast. This detour is expected to be in place through July 3 as the contractor pours the curb, gutter, and sidewalk for the future signalized crossing from the CKC to Eastrail. Trail users of all types should use the sidewalk and crosswalks on Northeast 124th Street to route around the closure. See detour maps at the top of this webpage.
