10th Avenue West Sewer Lining Pilot Project

Aerial of 10th Avenue West facing west

The West of Market Sewer main Rehabilitation Pilot Project will primarily involve the installation of approximately 1,335 linear feet of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner for a 6-inch sewer main along 10th Avenue W, extending from 6th Street W to 4th Street W in the Market neighborhood.  Additionally, the project includes three spot repairs to address joint offsets and deficiencies in the existing sewer alignment.

This project serves as a pilot study under the broader West of Market Sewer main Rehabilitation project, which aims to utilize CIPP lining to improve the sewer main system, reduce inflow and infiltration, and extend the system’s service life. Given the risks associated with CIPP lining in 6-inch sewer mains due to potential construction and future maintenance issues, the full-scale rehabilitation effort can only proceed if this pilot project proves successful.

The West of Market Sewer main Rehabilitation project addresses structural deficiencies in this neighborhood sewer system, thereby enhancing asset longevity, reducing maintenance costs, and minimizing inflow and infiltration. The proposed CIPP alternative offers the least disruption to the residents, the shortest construction duration, and the most cost-effective solution among the alternatives evaluated.
