Concealed Pistol Licenses

The Kirkland Police Department provides Firearms License services for City of Kirkland residents.

On-Line Concealed Pistol License (CPL) Application and Payment for All Types of CPLs

  1. Have a photocopy of your drivers license, state ID, or passport available on your device for upload to the on-line application
  2. Have a photocopy of the following if applicable:  current CPL, Permanent Resident Card, or I-94 and Alien Firearms License
  3. There is an additional $2.50 fee collected with each CPL payment.

CPL Online Form

In-person or Mail Original (New) Concealed Pistol License

  1. Complete the Concealed Pistol License Application(PDF, 354KB)  and sign
  2. Make a copy of photo ID (driver’s license or passport)
  3. Make a fingerprinting appointment with Kirkland Police Department at 425-587-3400. Or online with Bellevue Fingerprinting at their Bellevue facility. The cost for Bellevue Fingerprint services is  $42.00 https://bellevuefingerprintingservice.com/ 
  4. Once fingerprinting has been done, sign and date the application
  5. Make a check out to "City of Kirkland" for $49.25
  6. Drop off the signed/dated application, copy of photo ID and check payment to blue lock box located inside the Kirkland Police Lobby, or mail to:

Renewal Applications: (On-time renewals up to 90 days before expiration date)

1. Complete the Concealed Pistol License Application(PDF, 354KB) and sign
2. Copy of photo ID (driver's license or passport)
3. Copy of existing CPL
4. Check made out to "City of Kirkland" for $32.00
5. Drop off in blue lock box located inside the Kirkland Police Lobby doors or mail to address below.

Late Renewals: (within 90 days after expiration date)

1. Application filled out and signed
2. Copy of photo ID (driver’s license or passport)
3. Copy of expired CPL
4. Check made out to "City of Kirkland" for $42.00
5. Drop off in blue lock box located inside the Kirkland Police Lobby doors or mail to address below.

License Replacement: (newly issued with same expiration date as original)

Armed Forces CPL Renewal (Out of State Deployment)

Currently deployed members of the Armed Forces, Including the National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves, who are deployed out of state, can renew their concealed pistol license by mail.  This must be done within 90 days of the expiration of the existing concealed pistol license.  The license in this circumstance is only valid for a period of one year.

  •  To renew by mail in this circumstance, contact the Kirkland Police Department Records Unit at 425-587-3481 or via email at policerecords@kirklandwa.gov. An application will be sent to the requester either electronically or via standard mail.  Completed applications must be submitted with a copy of the original order designating the period of deployment, a copy of a valid government issued ID, and a credit card, check or money order payable to the City of Kirkland for the renewal fee.  Applications submitted up to 90 days prior to license expiration are $32.00.  Applications submitted up to 90 days after license expiration are considered late renewals and are $42.00. All license renewals submitted by mail are valid for a period of one year.

  • The law also allows members of the Armed Forces to renew his or her license within ninety days after they return to this state from out-of-state military service.  The applicant will need to provide a copy of their original order designating the specific period of assignment, reassignment, or deployment for out-of-state military service, and, if appropriate, a copy of their discharge or amended or subsequent assignment, reassignment, or deployment order back to this state. A license renewed under this law shall take effect on the expiration date of the prior license.  A licensee renewing after the expiration date of the license under this law shall pay only the renewal fee of $32 and shall not be required to pay a late renewal penalty.  The license in this circumstance is valid for five years.

Firearms Dealer License

City of Kirkland Firearms Dealer applicants must be 21 years of age and must provide current copy of a valid Federal Firearms Dealers License, State of Washington Business License, City of Kirkland Business License, and valid photo ID.

A check for $125.00 payable to the City of Kirkland must accompany the application. 

Once the Records Unit receives the packet of papers, you will be notified to set up an appointment for fingerprinting. 

The packet of paperwork may be delivered to the blue security box located in the vestibule outside of the Kirkland Police Department Lobby or mailed to:
