Meet the Animal Control Officer

Meet the City of Kirkland’s Animal Control Officer! 

The Kirkland Police Department is proud to announce Angela Arnold as Kirkland’s new Animal Control Officer. You might see her responding to calls of animal abuse or neglect, patrolling the Kirkland parks, and attending public events. 

Although new to the role of Animal Control Officer (ACO), ACO Arnold has an extensive background with animals. She grew up on a small family farm in Puyallup and graduated from Puyallup High School. Arnold attended Green River Community College for Criminal Justice while working at United Parcel Service (UPS) in Operations and Human Resources.  She has had a varied career that began with her 11 years at UPS, followed by work at a staffing company, a government agency, certification in medical assisting, and commercial constructing. 

Arnold came to the Kirkland Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer and quickly saw an opportunity to leverage her background to interview for the Animal Control Officer position. She was selected as the new Animal Control Officer this past February and graduated from the Animal Control Academy at the Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien in March. A resident of Kirkland, Arnold is excited to engage with the Kirkland community in support of their pets.

In parallel with Arnold’s hire, the Police Department is also rolling out a new texting feature for pet owners to receive lost pet notifications (including photos), helpful tips and information, and event announcements. To join this new texting community, simply text the word “pets” to 425-490-8326.
