Kirkland Orca Swim Team & Craze Summer Swim League

Returning Orca swimmer registration:

• Kirkland Residents: March 18, 2026 at 7:00 AM
• Non Kirkland Residents: March 19, 2026 at 8:00 AM

The City of Kirkland offers a recreational swim team that participates in the Craze Summer Swim League.  This league focuses on developing fundamental skills and instilling the value of a recreational activity that lasts a lifetime. Visit kirklandwa.gov/KirklandOrcas to learn more!

Returning Orca Swimmers:

If your child has swam on our Orca Swim Team before, they are eligible to return to Orca Swim Team without trying out for the team. Returning Kirkland Residents swimmer registration opens Wed, March 18, 2026. Returning Non Residents can register for swim team on Thu, March 19, 2026. Swim Team Returner registration will close on Tue, June 2, 2026.  Register your child online at www.kirklandparks.net or by calling Loni Rotter at 425-587-3333.

New Orca Swimmers:

If your child has not swam on the Orcas Swim Team before, they will need to try out for the 2026 team. Please do not register your child to the Orca Swim Team. If you are planning on having your child attend Orca Tryouts please see Tryout information below for details.

Swim Team Tryouts Reservation: 

You don’t have to register for tryouts, but we highly recommend it, this helps us plan for the number of swimmers. Registering does not guarantee a spot on the team. Tryouts are grouped by age, and the lottery drawing happens 10 minutes after the tryout window ends. This is the only tryout date; no make-ups will be offered. 

Tryout Requirements (Age as of July 1, 2026): Swimmers should show strong swimming skills and rhythmic breathing. 

Swim Team Tryout – Team Placement: 

After passing tryouts, swimmers are entered into a lottery by age and gender. If your child is selected, payment and registration will be required on-site to be placed on the team. 

Parent Information Meeting:

We will have an informational meeting for all parents on Wed, June 17, 6:00-7:00 PM at the Peter Kirk Pool.

Parent Volunteer Information:

Parent volunteers are essential for home swim meets and are asked to contribute  6-8 hours. Volunteers will help with timing, ribbons, and organizing swimmers, etc.

Swim Team Practice Schedules:

Practices occur Monday – Thursday mornings beginning Mon, June 22 and ending Thu, August 6. Practice times are based on age. Practices consist of both dry land conditioning and in water swimming development.
