Seasonal Spring and Summer Positions

Line up your spring and summer employment! 

Kirkland Parks and Community Services offers a variety of rewarding employment opportunities including positions as Day Camp Leaders, Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, Parks Seasonal Laborers, Park Rangers, Recreation Leads, Recreation Attendants, Special Event Recreation Leads, and Instructors.

Seasonal positions may start as early as March and last up to six months in duration. Employment May run March through November depending on start date.

Preschool, Youth and Adult Sports

The role of a Recreation Attendant with a focus on Preschool, Youth and/or Adult sports is to provide outstanding customer service and assist in providing operational support to recreation programs. Staff will work out of city facilities, athletics fields, school gymnasiums and/or off-site program locations to support programs such as Pee Wee Sports, Open Gym, and Youth Basketball among and other programs.

Recreation Attendant positions focusing on athletics are available throughout the year depending on the activity, with most positions available during the school year.

Recreation Leads and Recreation Rental Attendants

The Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department seeks Recreation Attendants for the North Kirkland Community Center, Peter Kirk Community Center, Kirkland Teen Union Building, and Heritage Hall. This position acts as an on-site City representative for recreation programs, activities, and rentals. 

Heritage Hall needs a Recreation Attendant to open the building for private rentals and then stay at City Hall during the rental. After, check the renter out of the hall and close it. Typical work hours are on weekends. This is a great position for students, retirees, and those seeking a side job as it allows a flexible schedule.  Additional hours may be available during the week to provide customer service support.

Additional Recreation Attendant opportunities are available at the North Kirkland and Peter Kirk Community Centers. Community Center Recreation Attendants may also take registrations, provide in-person customer service, maintain records, and assist with various administrative tasks.

Community Events

In this position, you will be a part of a team offering community building events for the public to enjoy throughout the year, such as movie nights, festivals, cultural celebrations, and the City’s 4th of July parade. 
 
The role of the Recreation Lead is to provide outstanding customer service and operational support to recreation programs, facilities, and events within Parks and Community Services. Recreation Leads serve as the on-site City representative and may work at City facilities, athletic fields, school gymnasiums, City parks, and/or off-site program locations. Recreation Leads provide operational support including preparing spaces, leading, and monitoring activities, and performing clerical work, and training and leading staff. Recreation Leads may work without on-site supervision.

For Recreation Leads working the movie nights, we are seeking someone who may be savvy with audio/visual equipment to be trained to operate our giant LED movie screen.  

Recreation Leads for Special Events have the opportunity to work seasonally or can work ongoing, as special events occur year-round.

Kirkland Teen Union Building (KTUB)

The Kirkland Teen Union Building is looking for Recreation Attendants or Recreation Leads to support teen drop-in hours during the school year and summer. These positions help lead activities, prepare rooms, support events, and acts as an on-site City representative for recreation programs, activities, and rentals.
