The Kirkland City Council has set aside funding to explore bringing a Tool Library to Kirkland.
A Tool Library is a shared resource where community members can borrow tools and equipment similar to how a traditional library lends books.
This initiative supports several City goals, including:
The City is pursuing this initiative to allow community members to complete projects without needing to purchase or store tools they use infrequently. Community insight will help shape what this resource becomes.
On December 9, 2025, the Kirkland City Council approved the 2025 Year-End Budget Adjustments (memo link), which included start-up funding for a Tool Library. This one-time funding is intended to support the launch of a Tool Library that would:
