Seattle Kraken and City of Kirkland Press Conference - April 29, 2026
On April 29, 2026, the Seattle Kraken and the City of Kirkland announced the plans for a new iceplex and community center in Kirkland. The facility will include:
- Two NHL-regulation ice rinks
- A City-operated community center
- A full-service public restaurant
- A team store
- Space for community programs, events, and activities
The project will deliver a new, year-round community destination that combines recreation, economic development, and public amenities — with no new taxes. The agreements between the City and Seattle Kraken ensure public protections for the duration of the partnership and ultimate City ownership at the end of the 34-year lease.
