Weekend Traffic Alert: I-405 Southbound Closure July 11-14

Southbound I-405 will be fully closed from NE 124th Street to NE 70th Place starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, July 11, through 4 a.m. on Monday, July 14.

City staff are actively coordinating with WSDOT on this weekend’s detour plan. Digital message boards will be placed along northbound I-405 and I-5 (before the split) to alert drivers. We're also working with WSDOT to adjust the number and placement of uniformed police officers (UPOs) along the detour route to help keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible.

Even with these efforts, major freeway closures typically lead to increased traffic on local streets. If you live near the detour area, please plan ahead:

  • Allow extra travel time
  • Park your vehicle where it’s easy to access
  • Consider alternate routes or travel plans
  • Avoid the area if you can
