Kirkland, WA – Around 2 p.m. this afternoon, Kirkland Fire and Police personnel responded to calls about a vehicle that had driven into the front of the Grocery Outlet in the Bridle Trails neighborhood.

Firefighters and paramedics from Kirkland, Redmond, and Bellevue provided emergency medical care to four individuals, including the elderly driver of the vehicle, all of whom sustained serious injuries. All four were transported to local hospitals. Despite lifesaving efforts, one individual died while being transported.

“On behalf of the Kirkland Police Department, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who passed away,” said Police Chief Cherie Harris. “Our thoughts are also with those who were injured and with everyone impacted by this tragic incident.”

Kirkland Police officers secured the scene and are investigating the cause of the crash.

The building sustained damage to the front entryway and to contents inside the store. Kirkland Police are working with the property owner to ensure the building is safely secured.
