UPDATE 12:20 11:41 a.m.:

Public Works crews have completed removal of downed trees and landslide debris along the eastbound (uphill) shoulder of Holmes Point Drive.  During the early hours of the evening of December 16th, the hillside slid onto the shoulder and approximately 6-10 trees came down with the slide.  As a measure of utmost safety, the roadway was closed to public travel at Juanita Drive and on the west end near NE 138th Place.   No homes are in danger or impacted by the slide; nearest homes are approximately ¼ mile west down Holmes Point Drive.  Puget Sound Energy removed trees and limbs near power lines on the westbound (downhill) shoulder.  The limits of the slide area were investigated by Public Works engineering staff and have been marked out for monitoring.  Based on previous slides and the continued rainfall anticipated over the next 24 hours, Holmes Point will remain closed until the rains subside later this weekend.

Holmes Point Drive is closed at the 13900 block to Juanita Drive. Due to the weather, multiple trees are down and soil is on the road. Public Works as well as Puget Sound Energy crews are currently on the scene. Engineers will be onsite in the morning to assess the situation and determine when the road might be reopened. This closure will impact the morning commute. Updates will be posted as they are received.
