Kirkland, Wash – The City of Kirkland launched a beta snow routes and plow status map.  The map is updated every few minutes with recent plow location and street status during a snowstorm and is available from the City’s website.

“When winter weather comes to Kirkland, we all want to be as prepared as possible before leaving our homes,” said Deputy Mayor Jay Arnold. “This helpful new tool provides our community members and City crews with near real-time snow plowing data. It will benefit all of us to know before we go on what to expect along the City’s snowplow routes.”

The location of the snowplows and the status of the streets on the map is on a slight delay.  The map also includes Kirkland’s traffic camera locations, so community members can conveniently review road conditions at major intersections throughout Kirkland.

“The creation of this useful map would not have been possible without the hard work and collaboration between our Public Works Department Maintenance Center and our Information Technology Department’s GIS Team,” said Interim Public Works Director Truc Dever. “Thank you to all involved on bringing this beneficial resource to our community.”

The application is currently in live beta testing, and community members are encouraged to provide feedback to the community via the comment form accessible on the City’s snow response webpage.

During storm events, community members can call (425) 587-3900 to report any storm-related maintenance issues.  For more information on the City’s response to snowstorms, please visit www.kirklandwa.gov/snow.
