KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kirkland Police Department (KPD) will be hosting an in-person Gun Safety Class on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, as part of the KPD’s ongoing efforts to increase firearm safety in the community. The class will focus on gun safety in the home. Community members can sign up on Eventbrite now.

“Firearm safety education is one of several programs made possible by the police services ballot measure passed by Kirkland voters in 2018,” said City Councilmember Toby Nixon. “While we all have a constitutional right to own firearms to protect ourselves, it always helps to be trained on how to safely use and store them. Even though I’ve received gun safety training many times previously, I attended a class offered by Kirkland Police last year as a refresher. I encourage anyone who owns firearms, or is even thinking about it, to also be trained.”

The upcoming Gun Safety Class will be:

  • Wednesday, June 28, 2023
  • 5 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Kirkland Police Department located at the Kirkland Justice Center, Totem Lake Room
  • 11750 NE 118th Street, Kirkland, WA 98034

Participants will receive a complementary small personal safe and gun locks for attending. Attendees must be 21+ years old and reside within the Kirkland city limits. Space will be limited to 20 people.

Note to attendees: Please DO NOT bring personal firearms to the class, as there will be inert training aids utilized as part of the presentation.

Sign up for KPD’s Gun Safety Class on Eventbrite.
