KIRKLAND, Wash. – In 2024, the Kirkland Police Department (KPD) handled nearly 49,000 service calls, which included traffic accidents, burglaries, mental health crises, lost pets, and criminal investigations. Each of these calls necessitates that officers respond with professionalism and a comprehensive understanding of current laws and best practices. KPD has consistently shown this dedication and has been honored for its excellence in policy management and training by Lexipol Connect, achieving this recognition for the sixth consecutive year.

The Lexipol Connect program assesses public safety agencies using five essential metrics that are known to improve policy management success. KPD earned the Gold level, the top acknowledgment available, for its consistent and effective distribution of policies to personnel, prompt updates as laws change, and ensuring that officers are thoroughly trained.
“The Kirkland Police Department continues to set a high bar for excellence in public safety,” said Councilmember Amy Falcone. “This recognition from Lexipol reflects the department’s proactive approach to strong policy management, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening community trust.”

KPD’s commitment to policy management improves community safety by guaranteeing responses remain consistent, effective, and compliant with state and federal laws, along with nationally acknowledged best practices.

“The Kirkland Police Department uses the Lexipol system to ensure our policies align with national best practices and industry standards,” said Police Chief Cherie Harris. “Being recognized by Lexipol Connect for six consecutive years reflects our commitment to professionalism, accountability, and providing the highest standards of service to the Kirkland community.”
