Kirkland Police Continue to Investigate Houghton Beach Park Shooting

Park remains closed this morning

Kirkland, Wash. – Houghton Beach Park remains closed this morning while the Kirkland Police investigate last night's shooting.

The Kirkland Police do not believe there is an imminent danger to the community as those involved appear to have known each other.

The shooting took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16. Kirkland Police responded to 5811 Lake Washington Boulevard Northeast for a report of a shooting at Houghton Beach Park. When officers arrived they located the teenage male victim. He was quickly transported to the hospital where he passed from his injuries. There were several people in the park at the time. Witnesses reported hearing gun shots and seeing two males running from the park.

Police searched the area, however, both suspects are outstanding. Kirkland Police Investigators have located additional witnesses and evidence which may help in providing a detailed description of the suspects involved.
