Kirkland Police Arrest Suspect in Carjacking and Vehicular Assault

Kirkland Police Officers responded to a collision that involved multiple vehicles at the intersection of Northeast 124th Street and 124th Avenue Northeast just before 3 p.m.   

One of the vehicles involved was an unreported stolen vehicle from a local car dealership that was being detailed at the time it was stolen. Witnesses to the vehicle theft and collision reported that the suspect got out of the car and ran towards local businesses.

Officers who arrived on scene to investigate the collision saw the suspect run towards stopped traffic.  The suspect carjacked the driver of a minivan, who was injured in the process. The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital.

The suspect drove away in the stolen minivan, and officers pursued him onto northbound I-405 into Bothell.  During the pursuit, the suspect exited onto Bothell Everett Highway, where he collided with another car causing minor injuries to the other driver.  The suspect continued driving until officers contained him in a retail store parking lot.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for minor injuries. 

Washington State Patrol is investigating the collision in Bothell.
