Case/Incident #22-38708

Kirkland Police Department (KPD) detectives have arrested 38-year-old Taylor Jacob Norton of Granite Falls in connection with a vehicle stolen from a Kirkland home last October – one of several auto thefts Norton is linked to across western Washington over a period of more than a decade.

In the Kirkland case, video surveillance obtained by detectives showed a man stealing a Mercedes Benz from a private driveway. The vehicle was tracked by the owner via GPS to the Lake Roesiger area where it was recovered unoccupied. Norton was identified through KPD’s investigation.

Over the last several months, Norton has been linked to vehicle thefts in Skagit County, Snohomish County, and King County, thefts of items from porches in King and Snohomish counties, and commercial burglaries in Bellevue and Kirkland.

On February 28, KPD detectives, with the assistance of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Norton at a local business. He was booked into King County Jail for Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Theft and 2nd Degree Burglary. In addition, Norton had felony warrants in Whatcom County and Island County for Motor Vehicle Theft-related charges.

KPD detectives filed further charges of Burglary, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

Other agencies are expected to file additional criminal charges in their respective jurisdictions.
