KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kirkland Fire Station 24 has received a Gold Firehouse Station Design Award from Firehouse Magazine, a national publication that has published Station Design Awards for the last nine years. The 2022 awards are a showcase of the most advanced designs in seven categories of fire and emergency service facilities across the country.

“The City designed Station 24 to help improve the health, safety, and efficiency of our firefighters, and we are happy to be recognized for it,” said Kirkland City Councilmember Toby Nixon. “Station 24’s layout provides quick access to the apparatus bay from every location within the station, and it’s designed to be operational even after a significant earthquake to ensure our firefighters can get out of the station and respond when the community needs them most.”

This year, Kirkland’s Fire Station 24 was honored among 61 entries and received the highest award in the “Satellite” category, which is for fire departments that have additional stations apart from their headquarters.  Kirkland Fire Station 24 is nearly 12,000 square feet and was completed in December 2021 in the Juanita neighborhood.

Every Station Design entry received appears in Firehouse Magazine’s November issue and online, accessible from the Firehouse website.
