KIRKLAND, Wash. –Juanita Beach will be closed starting this afternoon, July 12, and through the weekend due to high bacteria concentrations in Lake Washington. Crews from the King County Water and Land Resources Division tested the water Thursday, July 11, and found that the levels of bacteria on the eastern shore of the beach exceeded the thresholds for closure. King County crews will sample the beach on Monday, July 15, and again on Thursday, July 18. Per King County protocol, the beach will remain closed for a minimum of three days. The beach at Juanita Beach Park will reopen when bacteria levels return to a safe range. For more information, visit the King County website and search for Swim Beach Monitoring Program.
Updates about Juanita Beach Park will be posted to the City’s News Room webpage.
