KIRKLAND, Wash. – Come one, come all to the grand re-opening of Kirkland’s Fire Station 22 on Saturday, October 21, from 2 to 4 p.m.!  Fire Station 22 has recently undergone significant renovations as a part of Fire & Emergency Medical Services levy (Fire Prop 1), passed by Kirkland voters in 2020. Community members can tour the newly opened station, meet the Fire Chief, and explore fire trucks at the re-opening event. Fire Station 22 is located at 6602 108th Ave NE.

“We’re excited to celebrate another milestone of Fire Prop 1 with our community,” said City Councilmember Neal Black. “Protecting the health and safety of our firefighters while improving response times were central strategies to Fire Prop 1. I hope our community will take this opportunity to see firsthand their taxpayer dollars at work.”

At the Fire Station 22 opening celebration, community members can enjoy:

  • Self-guided tours of the new station – Decontamination Room, Air Lock, and more
  • Photos with the Fire Chief and Firefighters
  • Kids’ activities
  • Free swag, snacks and refreshments
  • And of course - check out fire engines, trucks and aid cars!

The updates to Fire Station 22 include seismic renovations and modernization to improve Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) health and safety, as well as response times.  Additional Fire Prop 1 investments include a new Fire Station 27 in Totem Lake, which is expected to be complete in 2024. Renovations of Forbes Creek’s Fire Station 21 and North Rose Hill’s Fire Station 26 are scheduled next.

See more information about the investments of the Fire & Emergency Medical Services levy (Fire Prop 1).
