KIRKLAND, Wash. – King County’s Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, in partnership with the City of Kirkland, is hosting a free gun lockbox giveaway at Kirkland City Hall on Monday, September 29, from 4 to 6 p.m.
“Safe storage is a simple, effective way for families to reduce risks and protect their loved ones,” said Mayor Kelli Curtis. “We’re proud to partner with King County to provide these lockboxes to our community.”
The event is part of a regional effort to promote safe firearm storage and reduce preventable injuries and deaths. Studies show that securely storing firearms by using devices such as lockboxes helps prevent accidents, suicide, and theft.
Lockboxes will be distributed free of charge while supplies last. Community members are invited to visit City Hall during the two-hour event to collect a lockbox and learn more about safe storage practices.
