Fire Safety Burn Ban Lifted by Kirkland Fire Department

The Fire Safety Ban that was issued in Kirkland in August has been terminated, effective September 1. Recreational fires are now allowed in Kirkland. Please remember that recreational fires are the only outdoor burning that is allowed in the City. All other burning is prohibited. Recreational fires must comply with the following requirements:

1. Only clean, dry fire wood may be burned. No trash or yard waste.

2. Recreational fires must be less than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height

3. Recreational fires must be 25 feet or more from structures or combustible materials.

4. A hose or other appropriate extinguishing means must be present.

5. The fire must be supervised by an adult at all times. A fire must extinguished if it will not be attended.

6. Smoke emissions shall not become a public nuisance. If complaints are received, the fire may need to be extinguished.
