Female Assaulted by Male Posing as Ride Share Driver

Kirkland, Wash. – Just after 11:30 p.m. on March 16th, Kirkland Police Officers responded on a report of a female who had been assaulted. The victim advised she had been in downtown Kirkland when she requested an Uber car to pick her up. She reported a vehicle pulled up driven by a male and she got into the vehicle without checking to see if it was the Uber driver she contacted. The driver did not drive her to her destination but instead pulled into a dark parking lot where he began to assault her. The victim was able get to the front seat and exit the vehicle fleeing the scene and calling police. Kirkland Police Detectives contacted Uber who have been cooperative with the investigation. It was determined the driver requested by the victim had been cancelled and was not the car the victim got into.  Kirkland Police would like to caution users of ride share services to verify the information of the driver and vehicle before getting into any vehicle. Anyone suspecting a suspicious vehicle or driver attempting to pick up should call police to report it.
