The Kirkland Police Department (KPD) is hosting two community events this month designed to strengthen community relationships and share practical safety information. Community members are invited to visit with officers for Coffee with a Cop and/or attend a free Gun Safety Class. Each event provides a different way to connect with KPD officers and learn more about public safety in Kirkland.

Coffee with a Cop is a relaxed, drop-in style event where community members can stop by for conversation, ask questions, or simply say hello. There’s no agenda, no formal program, and no purchase necessary - just an opportunity to meet the officers who serve Kirkland every day.

Date: Tuesday, December 16, 2025
Time: 9 to 11 a.m.
Location: Kirkland Urban Starbucks (in QFC), 425 Urban Plaza

KPD is also offering a free, instructor-led Gun Safety Class for community members interested in learning best practices in safe firearm handling and secure storage. The class covers responsible firearm practices, tips for preventing misuse, and ways to reduce unintentional injuries in the home. Participation is limited to 20 people, and attendees must be 21 or older. Registered participants will receive a small, complimentary gun safe.

Date: Wednesday, December 10, 2025
Time: 5–7 p.m.
Location: Kirkland Justice Center, Totem Lake Room (11750 NE 118th Street)
Registration: Reserve your spot through Eventbrite
Note: Attendees should not bring personal firearms.
