Kirkland, Wash. – Looking for an affordable way to take family and friends on a winter adventure? Community Van might be a perfect option to make your holiday season a little merrier.

Community Van rideshare is now available to all residents of Kirkland. Trips require an approved driver and a minimum of two passengers and can be routed to locations all around the region. Volunteer drivers ride for free, while passengers pay a standard one-way Metro fare per round trip. Community Van accepts monthly ORCA passes or Transit GO Mobile Tickets via the Transit GO Mobile ticket app.

Community Vans are stationed at the North Kirkland Community Center, located at 12421 103rd Avenue N.E., and in the parking lot below City Hall. The van can be used seven days a week during the day and in the evenings, is fully ADA-accessible and can accommodate a driver and up to five passengers. Need more room for your friends and family?  An 11-passenger van may be requested for trips requiring additional capacity, however, the larger van is not equipped with an accessibility ramp.

“There are so many fun options for using Community Van,” said Community Transportation Coordinator Armaghan Baghoori. “Take your out of town guests to Seattle for a show, attend a holiday season event, or cheer for your favorite local sports team, Community Van is an affordable and fun way to get your group around Puget Sound. Fuel and HOV lane tolls are also included with your paid fare.”

All residents in the community who are interested in utilizing this great resource are encouraged to apply to become a volunteer driver. Volunteer to drive your own trips to attend special events or functions around town, or sign up to be available with the gift of time and goodwill toward your community and occasionally drive other trip requests. Not able to drive? That is ok. Riders can request trips and we will do our best to find you or your group an approved volunteer driver.

**Volunteer driver screening process is completed by King County Metro and takes approximately two weeks.
