KIRKLAND, Wash. – Community members are invited to the City’s annual Día de los Muertos celebration on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Peter Kirk Community Center, located at 352 Kirkland Avenue. Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is a Hispanic/Latino/a/x/e cultural celebration that honors loved ones who have passed on. This is a free event for all ages.

“The Día de los Muertos event is just one way the City celebrates cultural diversity in Kirkland as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming community for all people,” said Councilmember Jon Pascal.

Community members are encouraged to bring a photo or item to the event that reminds them of their loved ones who have passed. In Spanish, these items are referred to as an ofrenda and placed in a decorated space in remembrance of their ancestors.

The Día de los Muertos event will include a variety of arts, activities and entertainment. Refreshments such as traditional Pan de Muerto and aguas frescas provided by Cafecito Mexican Bakery.

Parking at Peter Kirk Community Center will be limited - please consider using the Peter Kirk Municipal Parking Garage or street parking.
