KIRKLAND, Wash. – The City of Kirkland invites community members to celebrate the grand re-openings of two newly renovated fire stations this month. Both events will feature a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an open house where residents can tour the stations, meet Kirkland firefighters, and explore fire engines and aid units that serve their neighborhoods.
"Fire Stations 21 and 26 have served the Kirkland community for decades, and these renovations ensure they'll continue doing so for years to come," said Councilmember Penny Sweet. "These celebrations show how the City and our community continue to work together to build a stronger, safer Kirkland."
The re-opening events are scheduled to take place as follows:
- Fire Station 26 – Saturday, October 18, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
9930 124th Avenue NE, Kirkland, WA 98033
- Fire Station 21 – Saturday, October 25, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
9816 Forbes Creek Drive, Kirkland, WA 98033
Each fire station was closed for seismic renovations and modernization improvements designed to enhance firefighter health and safety, improve energy efficiency, and support faster response times to the surrounding community. These upgrades were made possible by Kirkland voters’ approval of Proposition 1 in 2020, part of the City’s continued investment in maintaining safe, resilient facilities for first responders and the public they serve.
Residents of all ages are welcome to attend and take part in the celebration.
